Scientists in China Discover an Alarming Amount of Pandemic-Causing Viruses
In a recent National Enquirer article, I spoke about the alarming discovery of 22 new viruses in bats in China, some of which share genetic similarities with deadly pathogens like Nipah and Hendra. These viruses raise real concern because they have the potential to jump from animals to humans, adapting to bypass our natural immune defenses.
The COVID-19 pandemic showed just how unprepared the world can be for fast-spreading infectious diseases. History has taught us that zoonotic viruses—those that cross from animals to people—can be devastating, with fatality rates for some reaching as high as 75 percent. That is why continued vigilance, preparedness, and global cooperation are essential. The next pandemic could arrive with little warning, and unlike COVID-19, we may not have the tools to respond so quickly.
