Doctor calls RFK Jr a 'hypocrite' after being spotted with ultra-processed energy drink that has cancer-linked ingredients
In a recent Daily Mail article, I was asked to comment on Robert F. Kennedy Jr. being photographed with an energy drink containing concerning ingredients. While the beverage is marketed as a performance booster, it includes sodium benzoate—a preservative that has been linked to DNA damage, oxidative stress, and even increased cancer risk, particularly when combined with citric acid. With 200mg of caffeine per serving, these drinks also far exceed the caffeine content of standard coffee, placing added strain on the body. For someone publicly critical of processed foods, consuming products like this strikes me as inconsistent and potentially harmful. My advice remains to focus on safe, evidence-based nutrition rather than highly processed, chemical-laden products.
